City Council


The purpose of the City Council of the City of Sullivan is to provide a clean healthful environment for the citizens of the community, provide services as required by the community and provide safety under the laws of the Constitution.

City Counil Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the council room of the City of Sullivan. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Monday of each month.

Pay Your Utility Bill

Your utility bill may be paid in person at the City Building/Treasurer's Office, may be mailed to the same office (address listed below), may be dropped in the payment drop box at the office, or put in the Utility Bill Drop Box on the inner North-West corner of the square, by the Post Office Mail Box.

You also have the option of paying your utility bill online, through Illinois E-Pay.

FREEDOM OF INFORMATION

The City of Sullivan is a municipality incorporated and organized under the laws of the State of Illinois for the purpose of providing its residents with the following services:

 

  • Electric service
  • Gas service
  • Water & Sewer Service
  • Greenhill Cemetery
  • Civic Center
  • Elizabeth Titus Memorial Library
  • Wyman Park
  • Police protection
  • Street & Alley service

 

The organization of the City department has been subdivided as indicated on the organizational chart that has been included.  The approximate amount of the operating budget for the City of Sullivan is $ 20,821,144.00.  The operations of the City are conducted thru eleven (11) offices.  The City’s administrative office  is located at 2 W. Harrison St.. The locations of other City offices include:

CITY OF SULLIVAN – FREEDOM OF INFORMATION REQUEST

Any person requesting records of the City of Sullivan may make a request in writing at the City Treasurer’s office located in the City Building located at 2 W. Harrison St..  Such request should be made to Myron Salmon, FOIA Officer at the above address and if he is not present   you should see Ms. Tracy Smith, Deputy FOIA officer. 

 

Another method to make a request is by mailing, faxing or emailing a written request to either Mr. Salmon or Ms. Smith specifying in particular the records requested to be disclosed and copied.  All written requests should be addressed to Myron Salmon at the above stated address and it should be noted on the envelope “FOIA REQUEST”.  If you desire that any records be certified, you must indicate that in your request and specify which records are to be certified.

 

The fees for any such records, if the person requesting the records wishes them to be copied, are as follows:

 

  • First 50 pages, black and white, letter or legal size copies –no cost.

 

  • Additional pages, black and white, letter or legal – not to exceed $ .15 per page.

 

  • If available, for color or abnormal sized copies – actual cost of copying.

 

  • If available, charges for electronic copies are limited to the actual cost of the recording medium (tape,CD,etc.)

 

  • Costs of certifying a record  - $1.00

 

Records may be furnished without charge or at a reduced charge, as determined by the City, if the person requesting the documents states the specific purpose for the request and indicates that a waiver or reduction of the fee is in the public interest.  Waiver or reduction of the fee is in the public interest if the principal purpose of the request is to access information regarding the health, safety and welfare or the legal rights of the general public and is not for the principal purpose of personal or commercial benefit.

 

Records of the City of Sullivan are classified as Administrative records, Fiscal records, Utility records , Cemetery records  and Personnel records.
