Refuse Permit Information
As of July 1, 2011, all pay for hire contractors must have a City of Sullivan refuse permit in order to dump yard waste and concrete on the City dump site. The annual fee for a permit is $250.00. Rubbish Dump License Applications can now be filled out online here! We are currently unable to accept payments for these online, so please bring or send your payment to the City Building, 2 W Harrison St, Sullivan, IL 61951. You will also need to pick up your license at this location.
Licenses are valid July through June each year. License fees are $250 per vehicle for the 1st vehicle, and $10 for each additional vehicle.
Fees will be prorated each month after July.

Leaf Burning RestrictionsPer City's Code of Ordinances: 27-9-3 RESTRICTIONS ON BURNING OF LANDSCAPE WASTE.
The open burning of landscape waste shall be permitted only on the following conditions:
(A) Landscape waste shall be burned on the premises on which such waste is generated; and
(B) Landscape waste shall be burned only when atmospheric conditions shall readily dissipate contaminants; and,
(C) Landscape waste may be burned only if such burning does not create a visibility hazard on roadways, walkways, or railroad tracks; and,
(D) Open burning of landscape waste may only take place during daylight hours with a person over eighteen (18) years of age in attendance during the entire period of burning; and,
(E) No open burning of landscape waste shall be permitted on any streets or roadways; and,
(F) No open burning shall occur during periods of time when the Fire Chief or the Chief of Police have determined that atmospheric conditions or local circumstances make such fire hazardous and dangerous.

Purchase a green sticker at the City Building, 2 W. Harrison St.
Stickers are $1 each. Place your sticker on a paper bag.
Fill your bag with lawn & garden waste (grass, leaves, small hedge or brush trimmings.
Have your bags on the curb by 7:00 am on Monday morning with the sticker facing the street.
